While Nisslalm or Sulztalalm are hot favorites for wonderful snowshoe hikes, families will enjoy the round hiking trail to the suspension bridge - an architectural highlight in the middle of the valley and the highlight of a rewarding winter hiking tour.

The impressive winter wonderland around Längenfeld can be experienced in a special way. Exploring the unspoiled winter wonderland with snowshoes, feeling the remote silence of the snow-covered winter forest.

Traces in the Snow

Guided snowshoe hiking tour followed by fun-filled sledding in the Ötztal Nature Park… Come and join us on a marvelous fairytale tour to a real winter wonderland. Indulge in picture-book landscapes covered all in white and follow animal traces in the woods. Great fun not only for children - it makes a splendid nature exploration tour for all ages. Was it a fox? Are there mice? Maybe a hungry squirrel? Our expert nature park guide will give you a detailed insight into the stunning high Alpine region by telling you interesting stories.

Adventurous snowshoe hike exploring the ancient Köfels landslide in the NATURE PARK ÖTZTAL

… let yourself be enchanted by the wintry fairy tale forest and embrace the pristine silence around you. We’ll hike past the Winkelberg lake and hike on secluded paths up to the Köfels plateau. A massive landslide happened here roughly 9000 years ago and shaped this unique landscape – our nature guide can tell you more about these events. In Köfels we’ll enjoy a cozy break at the Jausenstation Edelweiß and can relieve our tour while our cheeks heat up from our outdoor adventure in the fresh winter air.

Winterhiking with capricorn observation

With a experienced hunter and hiking guide, you can reach the best places around Längenfeld to observe ibexes and other ibex. As part of a short hike, he tells all sorts of interesting facts about wildlife and nature and takes you to the best places to observe the shy "kings of the alpine animals" with binoculars.

Snow shoe hiking routes

Snowshoe Winter Hiking

Nisslalm 2,054m

You walk about 1,5 h on the wide way from Gries to the Nisslalm hut. Depending on the weather and snow conditions you can explore the surrounding of the hut with the snow shoes - back you can go on toboggan.

 

Sulztalalm 1,898m

Level trail across meadows to the wooden bridge across Fischbach brook – slightly rising path (hiking time: approx. 1.5 hrs) leading up to the serviced Sulztalalm mountain hut. Back on the same route, on foot or toboggan (toboggan rental at the hut).

 

Wurzbergalm 1,573m

You walk on the wide way from Winklen to the Wurzbergalm hut. The 4 km long,  way takes you through the forest. From the Wurzbergalm hut you can continue with the snow shoes to destination Köfels. With the toboggan you will get back to Winklen.

In Längenfeld hikers lace up their boots also in winter. They are strongly recommended to explore the 40 km of cleared winter hiking paths leading right across the winter wonderland. Stepping on freshly fallen snow, racing down the toboggan run, discovering the beauty of unspoilt nature covered all in white. The Ötztal valley offers unlimited walking and hiking through meadows and forests far away from busy tourist centers.
