Köfels, a small rural village in the Tyrolean Ötztal, is located on a sunny plateau at 1,400 m above sea level. The village is surrounded by meadows and forest and a central starting point for charming mountain hikes as well as mountain tours. From the small carpark next to the Fundusbrücke in Neudorf (hamlet in Umhausen) this easy hike starts. You walk along the Ötztaler Ache to Grantau. Now you hike first along the road, then through the forest until you finally reach Köfels. A stop at the Alpengasthof Köfels or in the Jausenstation Edelweiß, where you can take a break and relax, is definitely worthwhile. Köfels is also accessible by car.
